Annual Senior Citizen's Xmas party

The annual Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party was held at the school on Friday 11th December and was as always very much enjoyed by all involved.

After a sherry reception, visitors were treated to festive carols from the school choir before tucking into a feast prepared by the school’s caterers Mellors, which included turkey and all the trimmings. Science teacher Mr Grant played seasonal music while they ate and then students Harriet wood and George Rudden led a cabaret-style entertainment.

The evening ended with a free Christmas raffle, with prizes donated by staff, students and local businesses, and each senior citizen left with a small hamper, again donated by students. School staff had pitched in to make the table decorations, to ensure the hall looked truly Christmassy.

Students take part in nominating local people to attend the party each year, and also held a non-uniform day to help raise funds to pay for it. Headteacher Mrs Nicholls said: “It was a fantastic evening which showed how caring our students are. They had put a tremendous amount of work into preparing for the party and making sure that all our visitors had a wonderful time. I’m very proud of them.”
