Sale High School : Omar Hassoun - Freestyler
Omar Hassoun - Freestyler

Year 10 student Omar first developed an interest in freestyling a year ago after watching videos of freestylers on YouTube. For the uninitiated, Freestyling is performing tricks with a football using any part of the body and requires hours of practice to hone the skills.

Om
ar’s first public performance was in June last year, when he won the Sale High School’s Got Talent competition, and this was soon followed by further success when he was runner up in the regional Red Bull Streetstyle Competition in Nottingham. This led to the National finals in London where Omar reached the semi-final stage. One of the judges that night was Rocket, an assistant producer for Sky television, who invited Omar and the other freestylers to perform on the Soccer A.M. show which went out on Christmas Day.

Omar has now moved on further by joining a Freestyle team –Streetwise Soccer - based in Bolton, showing his skills during half-time at Premiership Football matches including the Bolton v Aston Villa and Man. United v Chelsea games.

In March Omar featured on BBC television in Sport Relief juggling a ball for a mile along with another freestyler and continues to progress with regular appearances in London.

In June this year Omar was able to do his work experience with Streetwise Soccer and we wish him luck for a successful future in Freestyling.
